Organic Outings

This enchanting part of the world affords the opportunity to connect with nature and experience the beauty of the Sunshine Coast. Kondalilla National Park is a five minute drive from Montville’s Main street, offering scenic walking trails, spectacular 90m waterfall and facilities including picnic tables and BBQ’s. Make a day of trekking through the lush rainforest, cool off with a swim in the rockpools and finish the day off with a picnic or lunch at the Kondalilla Restaurant.

A short half hour drive will give you access to glistening Sunshine Coast beaches including Caloundra, Mooloolaba and Coolum. After a day at the beach, you can grab some locally caught fish ‘n’ chips and watch the sunset over the ocean. Drive 15 minutes to Maleny where you can experience the Maleny Botanic Gardens, Gardeners Falls swimming hole and Maleny Dairies where you can take a farm tour and sample the locally made products at the Milkbar. Maleny Botanic Gardens feature sprawling gardens, trails, lakes and Bird World where you can view over 700 native and exotic birds from around the world.

Exciting Excursions

Montville is often referred to as the 'Creative Heart of the Sunshine Coast’, home to the historic Montville Art Gallery, Illume Creations and Secrets on the Lake Art Gallery, just to name a few. These institutions showcase the best of local and interstate artists, intricate glass-work and unique giftware, creating a fun and culturally inspiring day out. For a fun-filled, family day out, there are a number of activity centres and iconic landmarks within half an hour of Montville including Australia Zoo, The Big Pineapple, The Ginger Factory and Aussie World amusement park. There is plenty to explore for the adults as well, with the renowned Flame Hill Vineyard just five minutes from the centre of town. The winery is positioned at the highest point of Montville on the Blackall Range and has been producing hand-harvested wine for more than 80 years.  You may sample a variety of wines, dine at the award-winning Flame Hill Restaurant and stay overnight in one of the romantic cottages.

Dining Destinations

No holiday would be complete without enjoying delicious food and dining out at local eateries. There are many culinary delights to explore in and around Montville, including the aforementioned Kondalilla and Flame Hill restaurants. Loved by locals and visitors alike, additional well-established dining options include Altitude, The Edge and Elements at Montville, all positioned along Main street. If you enjoy a great coffee or have a sweet tooth, you will have a choice of a selection of Café’s including Little May Espresso, The Long Apron and Mayfield Patisserie and Chocolates.

Dining out doesn’t have to always be conventional, with the opportunity to pack a picnic and enjoy lunch or dinner at a variety of scenic locations including both Kondalilla and Gardners Falls, Baroon Pocket Dam and McCarthy’s Lookout, affording spectacular views over the Glasshouse Mountains. You can purchase your picnic ingredients at either the Montville Growers & Makers Market held on the second Saturday of every month or the Maleny Sunday Markets, open every Sunday until 2pm.
